It’s time for the Annual Spring Portrait Sale !!!!

It’s ALL about the client…..

Some of you that read this blog are familiar with a rather famous nature photographer named Scott Bourne.  If you’re on Twitter – he’s @ScottBourne  Scott is also a brilliant business guy who learned many years ago that the business of photography was just as important to learn as how to operate a camera properly.  One of Scott’s first questions to people is “Are you shooting for fun or for profit?”.  When we’re shooting a wedding, family portrait session, baby session or even pets – it’s all about what the client wants – because they’re paying the bill.  We can offer our input on layout, colors, setting, etc, – but ultimately it’s their taste and style that should win out.  We’re here to help them achieve their desired look.  Take the photo below for example – do you like the effect that’s been done in post processing?  From time to time I’m specifically asked about this type of effect and if we do that.  I don’t have any of this type of image hanging in my apartment of my kids or family outings – I’m not a big fan of it.  But it’s not about me when it comes to someone connecting with us to work for them.  I’m simply the guy with the tools and knowledge to get them what they want and seeing their eyes light up when what they wanted was placed in their hands is one of the great parts of being a photographer.

Dave & Catharine’s Wedding Day

There’s a saying that goes something like “If it’s good, it’s worth waiting for…..” and this wedding brought that saying home with a big exclamation point.  Dave and Catharine had a wonderful day – meaning no snow and little wind – and I was glad that their wedding party was up to going outside for a few pictures in between the ceremony and reception.  The decorations were lovely, all the guests wished them well and everyone had a great time together – what better way to start a life together ?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Say Hello to Caleb!

Just in time for Christmas, Danny & Jennifer welcomed their first child, Caleb into their lives together.  This little guy was in a great mood as we had him moving around and trying on new outfits and snapping pics like we were papparazzi.  We finished up with some Christmas pics to celebrate his arrival at what is truly, the most wonderful time of the year.  Here’s some of the pics for you to enjoy…..

Sean & Melissa’s Wedding Day!

We’ve been looking forward to Sean & Melissa’s wedding for a long time and when the day finally arrived, it was a blast from start to finish.  They wanted to see each other and do the couple and wedding party pictures before the ceremony, so we set things up at the new Carmen’s Hotel for them.  When Melissa came off the elevator, it was obvious that these two were full of emotion for their big day! Then it was off to the RBG for the pictures. The ceremony and reception back at the hotel were full of fun and laughs and we wish them all the best and hope you enjoy this sample of their wedding day images….

5 Girls, 1 Fun Time…..

Earlier today, we had a blast taking some pics with Linda and her nieces.  The entire time we were at Gage Park shooting in different areas and across the street at the train tracks – they were laughing about one thing or another and it made for some fantastic images that I’m sure they will treasure for years to come.  Here’s a few of them for you…..

Josh & Rebecca’s Wedding Day

Last year, we had the privilege of shooting Josh’s sister’s wedding and more recently, the first photo shoot for Josh’s little niece Paige.  But this weekend, it was all about Josh and his beautiful bride Rebecca.  The chilly air and the fog couldn’t keep us indoors and actually made some very cool images while we were at Albion Falls.  When we got back to Carmen’s for dinner and the super fun reception and dance – it was full of laughs, remembering good times and making new memories for the husband & wife.  If this start to married life is an indication of what’s ahead – it’ll be all smiles and smooth sailing for these two!  Enjoy this sample of their wedding images…..

Say Hello to Paige!

Last year, Lisa and I had the privilege of photographing Beau and Shay’s wedding.  In a couple weeks, we’ll do the same for Shay’s brother and his fiance.  This past weekend, we got to meet the newest addition to the family – Paige.  She’s only 2 weeks old and such a little cutie.  She had a great first photo shoot with us and we hope to see her again soon at her uncle’s wedding!

Welcome Back Goodman’s!

Whenever there’s a bit of a chill in the air and we go from wearing shorts, tee shirts and flip flops every day to needing jeans & a sweater – I look forward to hanging out with the Goodman’s and photographing their family.  We wandered around the Pier 4 area for a while and we convinced them to get a little dirty and I hope you agree with me that it was all worth it!

Melissa & Jordan’s Wedding Day

Although the weather was a little sketchy early in the day – nothing could dampen the spirits around the house when we arrived to start our day with Melissa getting ready to marry Jordan.  With everyone looking on, they exchanged their vows and became husband & wife, and as the day moved on and we celebrated with them at the Grand Olympia, we were able to get outside for a few pictures and then dance the night away with them.  We hope you enjoy this selection of images from their big day – these and other images from their wedding are available for purchase by following this link to InstaProofs.
